Monastery Tsambikas (Panagia tis Tsabikas) is located on a small hill top. It is the subject of a legend:
An infertile couple who found an icon of the eleventh century after its discovery managed to have a child. So the chapel became a place of pilgrimage for infertile women without children. They come barefoot, implore the icon of the Virgin and vow to call their girl or boy Tsambika Tsambikos. Tsambikos and Tsambika are two names that are typically found only in the Dodecanese .
The walk is mainly for the view.
Location
Monastery Tsambikas, Stamina monastery is located between Afantou and Archangelos , perched on a small peak at 300 m climb 300 steps it will take to achieve it.
Tsambikas is reached by leaving the main road Rhodes - Lindos . A small paved road that winds around the wooded slope leads you to a car park where you will find the famous 300 steps, numbered 5 in 5.
