The Byzantine monastery of Tharri (Θάρρι) or Thari lost in a wild valley near the village of Laerma, dates from the ninth century.
The domed church, dedicated to St. Michael the Archangel, is very interesting with its medieval frescoes in the nave, apse and cupola, painted between the twelfth century and the fourteenth century.
The present monastery was built on the site of a temple of Apollo, on the ruins of which the first church was built in the fifth century.
