The island of La Palma is a relatively virgin island, with a very dense vegetation due to its wet and cool climate. Its mountains are covered with forests of pine, laurel and ferns.

Its culminating altitude 2 426 m, relative to its small area, 728 km², is the island of La Palma nickname island "in all slopes." This is the island with the greatest depressions in the world.
