Sa Pobla is an agricultural town in north-west of the island of Majorca, the town is part of the County of Raiguer.

The town of Sa Pobla has the most fertile land on the island of Majorca irrigated by a large number of wind turbines that characterize the landscape, they give three crops per year, Sa Pobla is known for its large production of vegetables, especially potatoes.

The city also has unexpectedly for this small dusty town, a contemporary art museum, one of the largest in Mallorca.

Sa Pobla is called La Puebla in Castilian Spanish.

The town of Sa Pobla is adjacent to the municipalities of Alcúdia in the northeast, Muro southeast, Llubí south, Búger southwest and Pollença in the north.

Click to enlarge the image.The territory of the municipality lies between the Serra de Tramuntana, the Plain of Majorca (Es Pla de Mallorca) and the Bay of Alcúdia, between the rivers of Sant Miquel de Muro (or Almadrà).

The Museum of Contemporary Art in Sa Pobla is housed in a former mansion of modernist style dating from the late nineteenth century, the Can Planes.

The permanent collection of the gallery has a hundred works by Majorcan artists and foreign artists living on the island in the years 1960-1970.

Address: Carrer Antoni Maura, 6 (at the north end of the street, which is in the western part of the street grid formed by the city).

Schedule (approximate): Tuesday to Saturday, from 10:00 to 13:30 and from 16:00 to 20:00, Sunday from 10:00 to 14:00.

MuseumThe Toy Museum (Museu de la Joguina / Museo del Juguete)
The first floor of the Can Planes is the toy museum, which presents a collection of toys and games of the nineteenth century and early twentieth century about 4,000 items, from rocking horses and miniature carousels up original board games.

The town of Sa Pobla Mallorca - The former station (author Chixoy). Click to enlarge the image.Sa Pobla is the terminal station of the railway line that would link Palma to Alcúdia and the line never reached Alcúdia and ends in Sa Pobla.

The old station was replaced by a new station which is on the road to Muro. The old station became the seat of the municipal police.
