Much of the town is included in the Natural Park of the Forest Crown, in a large populated area of pine forest. The volcano Siete Fuentes is in this protected area, the first of three volcanoes that appeared in the central part of Tenerife between 1704 and 1705. In just five days, a volcanic cone 37 meters high has appeared whose lava flows traveled 1,200 meters.
The ravine called Barranco del Río is a very different place, a long and deep channel that descends from La Degollada de Guajara, located on the back of Las Cañadas.
Other protected areas are: Salto de las Hiedras The Montaña Centinela and the coast, the Tabailbal del Porís, the largest expansion of Euphorbia dulcis canariensis southern Tenerife. At a place called El Contador, there is a recreation area.
