El Hierro is the smallest island of the archipelago of the Canary Islands (278 km²). It has few beaches and attracts very few tourists, few naturalists interested in its flora and fauna. The island of El Hierro has only 20 000 inhabitants.
Its capital, Valverde, is located inside the island, 600 meters above sea level and is surrounded by pine and interesting vegetation. Valverde is located on the slopes of a hill, its streets are steep and charming.
The chapel of Our Lady of the Kings (Ermita de los Reyes)
The Hermitage of Our Lady of the Kings (patron saint of the island) is located west of the island in the Deshera (Desert). A procession takes place there every 4 years.
