Park Pilancones is a succession of senior small plateaus crossed by ravines, creating one of the most beautiful landscapes of the oldest area of the island. Its morphology consists of a succession of high and medium areas crossed by the beds of various ravines that form a landscape of great beauty. This is one of the oldest areas of the island, with materials that are more than 12 million years.
The park is bounded on the north by the Rural Park Nublo and to the east by the protected landscape of Fataga. The Pinar de Inagua, Ojeda and Pajonales are in the highest area.
Many pre-Hispanic ruins, among which we must mention the necropolis of Arteara, Los Caserones, Gitagana, Los Canalizos de Chira, Lomo de la Palma or Lomo de Pedro Afenso.
Flora and fauna
From the perspective of the botanical inventory, we must mention a concentration zone euphorbia euphorbias of the Canaries and in the lower area, as well as pine and cistus in the middle and upper parts. Among the trees, it should be noted pinewood Pilancones, most of the island. One can also see the dragon and juniper isolated Sabine.
Among the fauna, we must mention numerous bird colonies whose most remarkable species are the blue chaffinch or the great spotted woodpecker. In the small streams of water stands the astrild wavy.
