|A symbolic line, drawn between Monolithos and Lindos , separates the north from the southern tip of Rhodes , opening on a region more arid and wild, rugged landscape of steep cliffs and plateaus peeled here and there crowned by the ruins of fortresses haughty knights . A region whose austere beauty has nothing to envy to the north of the island, but which, nevertheless, remains outside of the tourist flow (except Lindos).|
The southwest coast is too windy to be frequented by tourists. It offers miles of pristine beaches. Bay Apolakkia remained wild. Monastery Skiadi , 11 km, has an interesting collection of icons including a miraculous icon of the Virgin.
Only all-terrain vehicles can venture into this sector, due to the very bad roads.
The church Kattavia has frescoes and niches contain ancient sculptures.
