Guinate is a small farming village north of the island of Lanzarote. The resort has only thirty inhabitants and is part of the municipality of Haría.
Guinate is best known for two attractions: the lookout Guinate, which offers magnificent views of the archipelago Chinijo, and the animal park Parque Tropical, which features exotic animals.
The village of Guinate only a handful of white houses; a little away is the pretty little church of Our Lady of Lourdes (Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de Lourdes). A pilgrimage takes place Guinate the first Sunday after February 11 (feast of Our Lady of Lourdes).
If we continue the road to Guinate is achieved viewpoint, located on the cliff of Risco de Famara. The Mirador de Guinate is located 350 m above sea level and dominates the northeast coast of Lanzarote.
The viewpoint offers magnificent views to the west of the island of La Graciosa and the whole of the archipelago Chinijo, and to the south, on the heights of La Montaña Quemada (Burnt Mountain) of Máguez (562 m) and Los Helechos (581 m); down we can admire the narrow coastal strip.
Access to the Mirador de Guinate is free and offers similar views to those that we have from the Mirador del Río, located 4 km to the north; it has a small parking lot.
Proponents of hang gliding and paragliding use the mirador as a launch base.
Between the village and the viewpoint you pass a wildlife park, the Parque Tropical de Guinate or Guinate Tropical Park since it was created in 1990 by the British, but has changed owners.
The Tropical Park has an area of 4.5 hectares where we find gardens, waterfalls and ponds hosting about 1,300 exotic animals, especially birds, but also mammals (monkeys, meerkats ...), reptiles, fish (koi). As species of birds can be seen Sulphur-crested Cockatoo (Cacatua galerita), the hyacinth macaw (Anodorhynchus hyacinthinus), toucans, Lesser Flamingos (Phoeniconaias minor), weaver who build their nests hanging in the vegetation, peacocks , owls, herons and so on.
There is in particular a pond where you can see evolve under water penguins (Penguin Paradise...). Another attraction is a theater where parrots and cockatoos prepared give performances (bike parrots or other ...).

Hours: every day of the year from 10 am to 17 pm.
Spectacle of parrots: six times a day, every hour, 11 hours 30, 12 h 30 13 h 30 14 h 30 15 h 30 and 16 h 30. The show lasts fifteen minutes.
